Libraries are Key to Education

In a recent poll, eighty-seven percent of local residents said that libraries are "critical safe places and learning environments for our children." We couldn't agree more. Big Learning for Small Hands

Launchpads available now.
Recently, your Garfield County Libraries leveraged money from State Grants for Libraries to purchase a collection of Launchpads to make available at all six libraries. Launchpads are kid-friendly tablets pre-loaded with high-quality, ad-free learning apps, games, videos, and books. These tablets offer a great way for young children to engage with a device while remaining in a safe space where learning is the main goal. In fact, the libraries purchased titles primarily geared for three to five-year-olds. “We focused on building a collection featuring early childhood literacy and school prep,” said Amy Shipley, assistant executive director for the libraries.

Lifelong Learning at Your Library

Last year, your Garfield County Libraries adopted a new strategic plan, and one of the four priorities identified in the plan is to "encourage lifelong learning" through the libraries. We are taking this priority seriously. We are offering events for small business owners, health and safety events, history lectures, self-help, crafting, and book talks. View our calendars with upcoming events.
