History from a Tin Can

Doug Rhoades will share stories of Colorado history that he surprisingly discovered in the form of tin cans he found (with the beautifully colored and illustrated labels still intact) underneath his 115 year old home in Leadville. The presentation is sponsored by the Grand Valley Historical Society and will cover how the cans were preserved for so many years, what history can be discovered from them, plus labels from the first canneries in Colorado, and much more. Doug has catalogued his stories into a book titled, “Labels, Leadville, and Lore,” that he will be selling on Monday, March 24 at the New Castle Branch Library starting at 6:30 p.m.
