Winners Announced!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this hunt, got the clues, came to events, and turned in reading logs. We hope you had a great time. What a close race! We had to do a drawing for a couple winners - including the winners of the Grand Prize.
So, without further delay, here are the winners:
Do you like to have fun with friends? Are you clever? Could you use an extra $10, $25, or even $50? Have you read some good books lately? If so, grab a couple friends and register for the Team Scavenger Hunt.
Form a team of 2-4 members, pick a team name, and go to your local library to register. If you're a "free agent" and need help finding a team, talk to your Youth Services Librarian.
Every Monday (beginning June 7) a new question will be unveiled at all six of the Garfield County Libraries as well as on the library website. The questions will be from popular books you may – or may not – have read. Work with your teammates to figure out the answer to the question. Once you know the answer you will need to go find the answer in the real world and take a photograph (sorry no Google image searches or drawings allowed).
Example:
Q) From the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer: As lab partners, what did Bella and Edward win in their science class?
A) Golden Onion
Once you figure out it was a “golden onion,” you must go take a picture of a gold onion (using a camera, cell phone, or other device). Bring the picture (which can still be on your camera screen) to the library and be awarded points. Each week the first team at each branch to bring in a picture of the correct object will be awarded more points than everyone else.
There will be 8 weeks and 8 normal questions – but there may also be extra “bonus” questions randomly appearing in the summer. The points awarded at each branch for the normal questions will be:

Your team can also earn Bonus Points:
- For every SR 2.0 event at least 1/2 your team attends you will get 8 bonus points. It is up to you (at the events) to make sure the librarian knows your team is there so you can get the points. There are 4 events scheduled in your town.
- For every member of your team who completes all 8 reading logs you will get 10 bonus points.
You are not only competing against the teams in your town, but also against the teams throughout Garfield County. The questions are the same county-wide, and even if there are only a few teams in your town, remember that everyone is competing for the same Grand Prize.
Winners will be determined at the end of July by their total points:
- The Grand Prize winner with the most points district-wide will be awarded at $50 gift card for every team member.
- The five other teams (besides the Grand Prize winner) with the most points for their library will be awarded a $25 gift card for every team member.
- The second place team for each library wil be awarded a $10 gift card for every team member.
- In the event of a tie at any level a random drawing will be held for prizes.
The "fine print"
- All participants must be registered for SR 2.0.
- Individuals may participate instead of joining a team, but are ineligible for the Grand Prize.
- If there are too few teams at a branch, the libraries reserve the right to combine teams into another branch's competition to make the race for the Grand Prize fair.

During the Rifle Branch Library closure the teams based in Rifle (The #1 Readers, Lost Paradise, Stormin Mormons, Ziginators) can email the library with the answers to scavenger hunt questions. Answers do not have to be in the form of pictures during this closure. Please send your written or picture answers to gcpldadmin@marmot.org. Make sure to put your name, team name, and answer in the email. You will only be emailed back if the answer is incorrect. ALSO - the Activity Day for July 20th is canceled. Rifle teams can still earn those 8 points from the Activity Day by answering the following question:
