Welcome to Our New Web Site!

Welcome to our new web site! We have made this change to better serve our patrons and hopefully have created a web site that will be easier to navigate, easier to find the information you are seeking and better at telling you what's new at the library. Along with the new web site, we've also created a new logo for the District that reflects all six libraries.

We've been busy with construction projects this year. The Parachute Branch Library will celebrate its Grand Re-Opening on September 11 and the new Rifle Branch Library will open in mid-November. Construction is progressing on schedule on both projects and I believe you will be thrilled with the results. We will start the planning phase of the New Castle Branch Library remodel by this fall and are working on identifying the next project among the Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and Silt Branch Libraries.

As we open our new buildings, you'll see some new services and features at the libraries. Primarily, we will be moving to RFID (radio frequency identification) for check in and check out. RFID allows us to implement self-check out as well as stream line the check in process for books. The new facilities will also feature study and meeting rooms, more computers and the ability to print via wifi. You'll find lots of space for reading, quiet study and conversation.

What isn't changing? Same great staff, same great service and a desire to keep improving our libraries to your needs for new technologies and formats. I look forward to hearing from you about what you are looking for in the library in you community.
