Use the Library's Wi-Fi

Wireless internet access ("Wi-Fi") is available at all six of our branches. Please read our Internet Use Policy.

The following instructions are general guidelines and require that you understand how to configure and restore the settings of your own computer, PDA (personal digital assistant), cell phone, or other wireless device. To use wireless internet access, your device must have a wireless card. Newer operating systems, like Windows XP (and later) and Mac OSX, are designed to automatically recognize wireless network signals.

For PCs or other devices running a Windows operating system:

1. Double-click the wireless icon in your status tray (usually at the bottom right of the screen).

2. Click on View Wireless Networks.

3. Highlight the network with "library" or "gcpld" in the name. If you are in the library, our wireless network should be at the top of the list with the strongest signal.

4. Click on Connect.

5. When you open a web browser, our Internet Use Policy will appear. Read and agree to the policy and you'll be surfing the internet on the Garfield County Libraries' free wi-fi network!

OR,

1. Click on the Start button at the bottom left of the screen. Click on Settings and then on Control Panel.

2. Double-click on Network Connections (which may also be called Network and Internet Connections).

If you are still having trouble connecting to our wi-fi, feel free to ask one of our friendly librarians. We will do our best to help you but please remember that we are not experts on every type of wireless device!

You use our wireless internet access at your own risk; the Garfield County Libraries are not responsible for damage incurred while using the internet, including but not limited to viruses, spyware, and other malware. Please refer to our Internet Use Policy. Here's an article about How to stay safe at a public Wi-Fi hotspot.
