Paws to Read
Paws to Read is a program dedicated to improving the reading skills of children using certified therapy dogs and their handlers as literacy mentors. The dogs listen without judgment, making this a nice way to practice reading aloud. Children in grades K-5 are invited to sign up for 15 minutes of one-on-one time with the pet-partner team. Advance registration and a signed parent permission slip are required. Paws to Read takes place on the first Tuesday of each month from 4-5 p.m. at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library. Paws to Read is also held at our New Castle and Rifle Branches.
Paws to Read is part of our Tuesdays @ the Library series - we have exciting activities at the Gordon Cooper Branch rotating on a weekly basis! First Tuesday of the month is Paws to Read, second Tuesday is Station Creation, third Tuesday is BookTalk, and fourth Tuesday is Games Galore. Visit each week to maximize your fun!
