Teen Read Week 2011
Picture It @ your library: Teen Read Week 2011
What's Teen Read Week? Teen Read Week is a national literacy initiative designed to increase the number of teens who are regular readers and library users. Teen Read Week 2011 is October 16-22 and celebrates the theme Picture It @ your library, which encourages teens to read graphic novels and other illustrated materials, seek out creative books, or imagine the world through literature, just for the fun of it. To get started, explore our graphic novel collection in our online catalog or ask a librarian @ your library.
Win an e-reader! In celebration of Teen Read Week 2011, the American Library Association and Penguin Books are holding a photo contest; teens ages 13-18 can win autographed books or an e-reader! To enter, create a visual representation of your favorite book, upload the photo to Flickr, and tag it with "TRWcontest11." Email it to us at gcpldadmin@gcpld.org, too, so we can add it to our Flickr photostream. You must also fill out an entry form at www.surveymonkey.com/s/TRWcontest11. Teens ages 13 to 18 may enter individually and in groups of up to three people. Enter as many times as you like! A contest description and complete rules may be found at www.ala.org/teenread.
