Teen Read Week

Teen Read Week, an initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), is an annual celebration to encourage teens to "Read for the Fun of It!"

Teens, do you need reading ideas? Check out YALSA's Teens' Top Ten, a "teen choice" list where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! The 2010 list will be revealed during Teen Read Week in October but you can peruse last year's winners on the 2009 Teens' Top Ten list:

  1. Paper Towns by John Green
  2. Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
  3. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  4. City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
  5. Identical by Ellen Hopkins
  6. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
  7. Wake by Lisa McMann
  8. Untamed by P.C. and Kristin Cast
  9. The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
  10. Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Click on a title to see it in our online catalog. With your library card number handy, you can place a hold on the book(s) you want (learn how) and your local branch library will contact you when it's pick-up time. (BTW, did you know that many of these titles are available in formats other than book? We have audio books on CD or download and little gadgets called "Playaways" which are digital audio players preloaded with a specific title. Check 'em out...)
