Meet Your Librarian: Kelsy Been
Kelsy Been is the Grant Coordinator for the Garfield County Libraries, aka the libraries’ grant-writing-wizard-extraordinaire. Kelsy works tirelessly to find funding for the many programs the Library District hosts. She is responsible for bringing the “GoToWorkshops@YourLibrary” program to the libraries through a LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grant awarded last fall. One of Kelsy’s greatest grant writing achievements to date is securing the Discover Earth Exhibit: only 10 libraries around the country were selected for this museum-quality exhibit. The Rifle Branch Library will host Discover Earth from June 21st to August 17th. The Library District is excited to bring this exhibit to the people of Garfield County!
Kelsy is a Colorado native who started life in the small town of Naturita, and then moved to Rifle when she was a teenager. After leaving Rifle High School, she headed back east where she graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts; earning a Bachelors’ in psychology. Kelsy and Chester Been, her beloved puppy, like hiking, long walks in the park, and playing in the Colorado River. She also enjoys cooking, skiing, crocheting, and playing Scrabble. In June, she became a first-time homeowner. Kelsy is an avid reader and has just completed The Paris Wife by Paula McLain.
Look for Kelsy at Scrabble club, hosted by the Glenwood Springs Library the first Tuesday of every month.
