Interlibrary Loan Request

Interlibrary loan is a service that allows our card-holders to borrow books, audiobooks, DVDs, videos, CDs and copies of articles not owned by the Garfield County Libraries or our Western Slope library partners. We will make every attempt to fill your interlibrary loan request. You will be notified if we are unable to locate the item requested or if there are no libraries able to fill the request. Locating and receiving a requested item usually takes 2 to 5 weeks.

To use interlibrary loan services, you must have a Garfield County Library card. The Library allows five active interlibrary loan requests per library card.

The Library District does not charge for this service, but occasionally there is a charge imposed by the owning library and the requesting patron is responsible for that charge. There may also be a photocopy fee for lengthy articles. If there will be a charge, you will be notified before the material is ordered. This will allow you to decide whether you still want the material. Fees are collected when the requested material is picked up. Please note that you are still responsible for fees even if you decide not to pick up the material.

Use this form to request an item online. Please check our library catalog before completing the form. We share materials with other Western Slope libraries in the "Marmot" consortium and if the item you want is available from a Marmot library, you can place a regular request for it from our catalog. (Learn how on our How Do I? page.) Items requested from other Marmot libraries generally are received faster than interlibrary loans. If you have any questions please contact your local branch; each branch has an interlibrary loan specialist who is happy to help. You may also contact Linda Newman at lnewman@gcpld.org or (970) 625-4270.
