An Evening with the Legendary Doc Holliday

The Friends of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library and the Frontier Historical Society present an evening with Dr. John Henry Holliday on Thursday, August 16th at 7:00 pm.  Portrayalist R. W. Boyle will bring the good doctor to life.  The program will take place in the basement meeting room of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library at 413 Ninth Street and is free an open to the public.

Holliday was a Southern gentleman, well-educated for his time (1851-1887), a Doctor of Dental Surgery, socially adept, with a good sense of humor and popular as a you man in the social circles of Atlanta, Georgia.  He is also the Doc Holliday of Western legend, a friend of Wyatt Earp, gambler, plainsman and gunfighter!  How did a young Southern gentleman become the most feared, legendary sharp shooter of the Old West?  Hear from Doc himself how the trail led from rural Georgia to the Pennsylvania College of Dental surgery and then to the OK Corral in Tombstone.  Doc will appear in dress appropriate to his times, equipped with the "tools" of his trades.  With stories and tales in the first person, the audience will glimpse the real man hidden away in the mists of time.
