Eleanor Roosevelt: A Chautauqua Program

The Glenwood Springs Branch will present Susan Marie Grontczak as Eleanor Roosevelt on Thursday, March 17th at 7pm in the basement meeting room for the third program in the 2011 Winter Lecture Series, which is funded in part by Colorado Humanities. Susan Marie Frontczak will portray Eleanor Roosevelt in a Chautauqua format. Eleanor Roosevelt will be addressing guests from 1937, during the Great Depression, through a series of vignettes -- witnessing alternating glimpses into her public and private personae. Mrs. Roosevelt moves back and forth between an intimate setting of speaking off the record with close friends and a podium setting for her public addresses in which she discusses many of the social programs created at this time and which still exist today. Refreshments will be served.
