Lin Yi's Lantern: A shadow puppet show

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Gordon Cooper Branch Library in Carbondale, in partnership with Out of the Mud Puppet and Mask Theatre, presents a magical shadow puppet production of "Lin Yi's Lantern." Directed by local artist Soozie Lindbloom, it is a tale of a boy who finds out that giving is its own reward. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Showtimes are at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2.

Valentine Party for Middle Schoolers

Join us at the Silt Branch Library on Saturday, February 11, from 1-3 p.m. for a Valentine's Day party. You can decorate cookies, make valentines, and enter your name into a drawing for a box of chocolates. It's a sweetheart of a deal! Contact the library at 876-5500 for more information.

Chinese New Year Party for Teens

Come find out if you're a Rat or a Dragon! (Or a Horse, or maybe a Monkey...) Join us at the Silt Branch Library from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, to celebrate Chinese New Year. Learn about the Chinese Zodiac (like, what does it mean to be a Snake?), snack on egg rolls, and create your own Chinese lantern.
