"Make It" Monday
Take a day away from your regular routine and work on any crafting project with us at the Parachute Branch Library. Sew, knit, crochet - have gifts to finish? This day is just for you! We'll host a "Make It" Monday on the first Mondays of November and December (November 7 and December 5). Drop in anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and stay as long as you like. We'll serve a soup and salad supper at 5:30 p.m. We'll also have tables, ironing borads, irons, and cutting mats all set up for your convenience.
Gaming Day for the Younger Set
Elementary school-aged children are invited to the Rifle Branch Library at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, for an afternoon of games. We'll have board games, card games, and the Wii available! Call the library at 625-3471 for more information.
"Math Wiz" Tournament
The Rifle Branch Library will host a Math Wiz tournament on Saturday, December 3, from 1-3 p.m. All middle schoolers are invited to join us in the large Community Room upstairs to play this exciting card game.
Mammoths and Mastodons and Sloths, Oh My!
Jim Campbell, PhD, and Sandy Jackson, MA, both adjunct professors at Colorado Mountain College, will talk about their experiences at the Snowmass dig site during the summer of 2011. Join us at the Gordon Cooper Branch in Carbondale on November 10 at 7 p.m. to learn about the excavation process and what was discovered. The presentation will be geared toward adults but children and teens are welcome. For more information, call the library at 963-2889.
Tuesdays @ the Library: MORE Games!
Children in grades K through 5 are invited to join us for games at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on the fourth (and occasionally fifth) Tuesday of each month from 4-5 p.m. Have fun playing board games and card games with other kids while developing reading and critical thinking skills at the same time.
Techie Tuesday
Students in grades 5-8 are invited to come play with our tech toys at the Parachute Branch Library on November 22 and December 27 from 2-3:30 p.m. Laptop computers, board games (ok, so maybe that's "low tech"), Wii games and a big screen - a.k.a. the works! - combine to make this a techie's dream. Please sign up in advance by visiting the branch or calling 285-9870.
