Local Water Resources: What it means for you & your family

The agricultural valley we live in is known as the Middle Colorado River Watershed. There are many issues facing the health and conservation of the water resources in our watershed. Hydrologist Jeff Crane will speak on these issues, which include agriculture, gas development, source water protection, invasive species and water quantity. Crane will discuss the work performed by local watershed groups throughout Colorado. Join us at the Rifle Branch Library onTuesday, May 1 at 7:00pm to learn more about issues facing local water resources and what we can do to help!

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Celebrate National Kite Month by making your own kite and then flying it! The Rifle Branch Library is hosting a kite-making event on Saturday, April 28 at 1:00pm. This program is limited to 60 participants: first-come, first served. Refreshments will be served.

Poetry Slam

The Rifle Branch Library is celebrating Poetry Month by hosting a poetry slam on April 13 at 6:00pm. A poetry slam is a competition at which poets read or recite original work. This program is for middle schoolers and up. Refreshments will be served.

Donate Life

Anyone can donate life. Catherine Bradham from Donate Life Colorado will be available at the Parachute Branch Library on Tuesday, April 17 at 1:30pm to answer questions regarding organ, eye, or tissue donation.

Get Growing: Garden Talk!

Need to get that garden going? Need to look over your trees or dig out those invasive plants? It's time to talk to the expert: Steve Anthony will give you the answers to get that garden growing. Join us in the Parachute Community Room on Monday, April 16 at 2:00pm.

Bring Your Parents to the Library

Celebrate National Library Week by bringing your parents to the Parachute Branch Library on April 14 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Special entertainment by the 5th grade choir from St. John Elementary at 11:00am. Special events include: spin-to-win, free library cards, and more!

Wii Gaming for Father's Day

Wii for Father's Day! Bring your Dad, Grandpa, or Uncle to the New Castle Branch Library for an evening challenge with Wii! Challenge him in bowling or baseball or another game. We will provide the treats. Please register in advance by stopping by the library or by calling 984-2346.

Bring Your Mother to Library Tea

For Mother's Day, take your mother to a tea at the New Castle Branch Library! The tea will begin at 6:00pm in our new community room on Thursday, May 10. Advanced registration is required: please call 984-2346. Join us, and show Mom how much you care.

Teen TAG Tour & Treats

Teens currently part of New Castle's Branch LIbrary Teen Advisory Group, or any teens in grades 7-12 who are interested in joining the group, are invited to join us at the new library facility on Wednesday, April 18 for a tour, pizza, and a chance to plan fun prgorams for teens by teens. If you can't make it by 4:30pm, just come anytime before 6:00pm, and we'll save you some pizza!

Popcorn & a Movie

There is no school for RE-2 students on Monday, May 7. The Silt Branch Library will be showing the newly-released DVD "Puss in Boots" and serving popcorn at 1:00pm. Call 876-5500 for more information.
