3D Origami

 Teens! Take paper folding to the next level and learn how to make 3D Origami at the Parachute Branch Library on Tuesday, June 11, at 2:00 pm.

Special Library Preview (Invitation Only)

Participate in the Summer Reading Program and receive an invitation to a Special Library Preview of the New Carbondale Branch Library facility on Thursday, July 18, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm..

This is an invitation only event for participants of the Summer Reading Program. We will host a tour of the new facilities, and attendees will have the opportunity to browse our brand new collection and check out new materials. Refreshments and appetizers will be provided.

Introduction to Batik

 Have you seen those beautiful eye catching fabrics with all that color and wonder how it is done? Wonder no more as fabric guru Sandy Harrison will show us how it is done. Join us for hands on demonstration.

Batik is both an art and a craft involving decorating cloth with wax and dye.

Attendees must register and a supply list will be given to you then. Students will make an 8x10 sample to take home.

Introduction to Batik takes place at the Parachute Branch Library on Saturday, August 3, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Join Defensive Tactics trainer Leah Campbell as you learn some very clever moves to make you smarter and safer!

Paws to Read

 Come to the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on the second Tuesday of every month from 4:00 to 5:00 pm for PAWS to READ! Children in grades K-5 can sign up to read to the dogs for approximately 15 minutes. Featuring dogs and handlers/literacy specialists from Heeling Partners of the Roaring Fork Valley.

Story Art with the Aspen Art Museum

 Led by an instructor from the Aspen Art Museum, Story Art combines learning to read with art-making and activities that build visual literacy. This popular program introduces children to the basic foundations of art through engaging storybooks, looking activities, and hands-on art projects. Story Art programs are held at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:45 pm and are for children in grades K-5.

Reiki and Massage Therapy 101

If you are interested in finding ways to improve your energy, then this class is for you. Reiki and Massage Therapy 101 is free and will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, at 1:00 pm in the Silt Branch Library's community room.  Put on by local Reiki Master and Massage Therapist Betts Williams, this program will discuss energy, how it feels, how to get in touch with it, and how to use it for healing. You will come away with a new sense of peace and how to help yourself and others.
