The Colorado River: Flowing through Conflict

The Rifle Branch Library is excited to host Peter McBride's & Jonathan Waterman's travelling photo exhibition, "The Colorado River: Flowing Through Conflict," which will be on display from May 25th through September 30th at the Rifle Branch Library.

Mammal Skulls of Colorado

 Come to the Rifle Branch Library on Wednesday, June 27th to learn about mammal skulls of Colorado!  This interactive presentation will use skulls of various mammals which can be found in Colorado.  The participants will learn how to differentiate between skulls of carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores.  They will also learn about predator and prey species.  The skulls are used to look at the teeth, jaw structure, eye sockets, and cranial ridges.

Got Bats?

 Come to the Rifle Branch Library on Tuesday, July 17th at 6:30 pm for Got Bats?

Location is everything when one tries to find a suitable living area and the Rifle Falls' bats are no exception!  Join Terry Wise, the park naturalist for an interactive presentation on everything you wanted to know about bats but were afraid to ask.  Children can create a bat craft following the presentation.  This program is concurrent with Bat Bedtime Storytime- a program for preschool children.

Hawk Quest

Come to the Rifle Branch Library at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 1st for Hawk Quest!

This one-hour program includes a Bald or Golden Eagle, an owl, a falcon, and a free-flying hawk.  Participants will learn about the importance of different raptor species, their specially-adapted tools, and their role in our ecosystems.

In this participatory program, everyone will be able to observe the unique tools of the owl, the incredible talons and six-foot wingspan of the eagle, the aerodynamic features of the falcon, and the precision flying of the hawk.
