Animal Tendou

The teen club continues with this summer edition at the Parachute Branch Library on Wednesday, July 20th from 2-4pm. A movie will be shown, and authentic Japanese snacks will be served!

Outreach Summer Reading in Appletree

The New Castle Branch Library is taking the Summer Reading Program to the Appletree Community Room. Join us for stories, crafts, and prizes every Thursday at 10:30am!

Digital Camera Club

The Digital Camera Club is meeting on Wednesday, June 8 from 7-9pm. Members are invited to bring interesting pictures of exotic places they have visited abroad or to share obscure photographs of the New Castle area. These pictures will be displayed for the duration of the Summer Reading Program.

Reel Readers: Movie & Book Discussion

Read Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, then join us at the Parachute Branch Library on Friday, January 13, at 6 p.m. for a screening of the movie version and a discussion to follow. Come in and check out Parachute's giant screen and movie theater sound! Popcorn will be provided and participants are invited to bring in finger foods as well.

Raising a Reader

The Raising a Reader program provides bookbags filled with books for preschool and daycare children to take home, read with their families, and return for new ones. Children who have participated in this program during the last year are invited to the Parachute Branch Library on April 5, 7, 19, and 21 at 9:30am and 1pm to sign up for a library card, explore the new library facility and the wealth of materials available to them, and receive their special blue "graduation" bag in which they can carry their treasures to and from the library.

Paws to Read

Practice reading to a friendly dog! This pressure-free audience gives children the opportunity to practice their reading-aloud skills. Children are invited to sign up for 15 minutes of one-on-one time with a dog who loves to listen to stories. Advance registration and parental permission are required. Paws to Read is held at the Rifle Branch Library on the first Thursday of each month from 4-5 p.m. To register or get more information, please visit the library or call 625-3471.

The Red Blazer Girls Bookclub

All 5th-8th grade girls are invited to The Red Blazer Girls Book Club at the Parachute Branch Library on Wednesday, March 16 from 2:30-4pm. We will be discussing Laurie Halse Anderson's "Chains." Call the Parachute Branch at 285-9870 for more information.

Author Joins Red Blazer Girls Book Club Meeting Via Skype!

The award-winning author, Avi, will be joining the Red Blazer Girls Book Club for a special meeting on Wednesday, February 16th at 3pm via Skype! The group will be discussing Avi's The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle.
