Valentine-Making for Kids
Kids, join us at the Rifle Branch Library on Saturday, February 11, at 1 p.m. to make a card for your special Valentine.
Art in the Stacks Opening Reception: Roland Klocker
Join us at the Rifle Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, for the next installation of Art in the Stacks. January's featured artist is Roland Klocker. Although Roland has worked for the City of Rifle for 37 years, he only began his second career as a photographer about 6 years ago after taking a photography course at CMC. He has traveled as far as Zimbabwe to capture images of animals but also enjoys visiting local spots such as Rifle Mountain Park.
Greeting Card Workshop
Teens, come learn the techniques for making special greeting cards at the New Castle Branch Library on Tuesday, February 7, at 6:30 p.m. Just bring your imagination! Please register in advance, as space is limited; you can stop by the library or call 984-2346. Everyone will leave with a special project.
Make Valentine Cards and Crafts @ the Library
Join us at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library in Carbondale on Thursday, February 9, from 4-5 p.m., to make a Valentine's Day card or craft for that someone special in your life! This program is open to all ages.
Lin Yi's Lantern: A shadow puppet show
In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Gordon Cooper Branch Library in Carbondale, in partnership with Out of the Mud Puppet and Mask Theatre, presents a magical shadow puppet production of "Lin Yi's Lantern." Directed by local artist Soozie Lindbloom, it is a tale of a boy who finds out that giving is its own reward. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Showtimes are at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2.
Ornaments to Go
Kids ages 10 and under are welcome to stop by the Parachute Branch Library on December 22 for an ornament kit you can "take and make." Ornament kits will be available all day (the branch is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) but come in before they're gone!
"Make It" Monday
Take a day away from your regular routine and work on any crafting project with us at the Parachute Branch Library. Sew, knit, crochet - have gifts to finish? This day is just for you! We'll host a "Make It" Monday on the first Mondays of November and December (November 7 and December 5). Drop in anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and stay as long as you like. We'll serve a soup and salad supper at 5:30 p.m. We'll also have tables, ironing borads, irons, and cutting mats all set up for your convenience.
Gingerbread Man Madness
Students in middle and high school are invited to the Rifle Branch Library on Tuesday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m. for Gingerbread Man Madness! Come to the library (upstairs in the Community Room) and decorate gingerbread men. Use your imagination to see how wacky you can get! Advance registration is required 'cause space is limited. Santa's Coming to Town!
The Gordon Cooper Branch Library will once again host a visit from Santa Claus on Saturday, December 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Drop by the library to say hello to Santa, listen to holiday stories, and decorate some holiday ornaments. We will have all of the supplies needed to enjoy this fun-filled activity. Hope to see you there!
Cross-stitch for Beginners
Back by popular demand, Melissa Colasinski will offer another cross-stitch program at the Silt Branch Library on Tuesday, February 28, from 6-8 p.m. Bring your materials or get a free starter pack and have Melissa show you the basics. If you already know how to cross-stitch or you want to bring a different type of activity, like knitting, go right ahead and enjoy the good company and refreshments. There is no charge to attend but please register in advance as space is limited; visit the Silt Branch or call 876-5500.
