The Rifle Branch Library is hosting a Spring Break Art Camp for 1st through 3rd graders on March 28-30th from 10am-12pm. Students will learn new art techniques, and a scholarship for the "Art from the Heart" art school in Rifle will be awarded for the most creative piece.

String Painting @ Spring Break Art Camp

The Rifle Branch Library is hosting a Spring Break Art Camp for 1st through 3rd graders on March 28-30th from 10am-12pm. Students will learn new art techniques, and a scholarship for the "Art from the Heart" art school in Rifle will be awarded for the most creative piece.

On Wednesday, March 28, Tara Charlesworth will be teaching string painting from 10am-12pm. String painting is a creative art form that involves an assortment of tempera paint colors and a few long pieces of yarn.

Anime Club

The Anime Club continues at the Parachute Branch Library! Join us from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on April 18. The Anime Club is open to all high school and middle school students who are interested in watching and talking about anime. For more information, contact the Parachute Branch Library at 285-9870.

Sushi Social

Learn how sushi is made using a variety of candies! Come to the Rifle Branch Library on Saturday, May 19th at 1pm, and create edible works of art. If raw fish is your thing, you can go home and show your friends and family how to make real sushi! Middle and high school ages only. Reservations are required, so stop by the Rifle Branch Library or call 625-3471 to reserve your spot!

 

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Celebrate National Kite Month by making your own kite and then flying it! The Rifle Branch Library is hosting a kite-making event on Saturday, April 28 at 1:00pm. This program is limited to 60 participants: first-come, first served. Refreshments will be served.

Middle School Art Show

The New Castle Branch Library is hosting an art show and exhibit for middle school students from Riverside and Rifle Middle Schools from Thursday, May 3 to May 10.

Celebrate "The Lorax" with Crafts

Kids age 12 and up are invited to join us at the Rifle Branch Library from 2-3 p.m. on Monday, February 20. The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, was published in 1971 and a new film version of the book will be released on March 2, 2012, which would have been Dr. Seuss' 108th birthday! We'll celebrate the book and the upcoming movie with special recycled materials crafts in the spirit of The Lorax's environmental themes. Space is limited, so sign up at the Rifle Branch Library's front desk in advance.

Lin Yi's Lantern: A shadow puppet show

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Gordon Cooper Branch Library in Carbondale, in partnership with Out of the Mud Puppet and Mask Theatre, presents a magical shadow puppet production of "Lin Yi's Lantern." Directed by local artist Soozie Lindbloom, it is a tale of a boy who finds out that giving is its own reward. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Showtimes are at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2.

Photography Tips and Tricks

Join us at the Silt Branch Library on Thursday, March 22, from 6-7 p.m. Local portrait photographer Ashley Mickelson will give some basic tips on what you can do to make your photos zing! In addition to basic tips, she will focus on how to use lighting to create dynamic pictures of your family and friends. Light refreshments will be served.
