New Castle Branch Library Digital Camera Club
This is an informal gathering of people interested in all aspects of digital photography, from beginner to seasoned professional. Bring your cameras, questions, and photos in any form. If they are on disc or memory stick we can project them onto a large screen for all to see. Club meets at the New Castle Branch Library on October 10th at 7:00 p.m.
Writing and Drawing for FUN!
Join other aspiring young writers and illustrators at the New Castle Branch Library as we explore the secrets of writing and illustrating. Eventually, we hope to create an anthology of short stories by our local your elementary school age writers and artists. Program takes place at 4:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month. Participants should have basic reading skills.
Create a Horrifying Halloween Wreath
Decorate your home, bedroom or locker with our Horrifying Halloween Wreath! Program takes place at the Rifle Branch Library on Friday, October 19th at 1:00 p.m. Participants are limited to 15, so sign up now for this positively creepy craft!
The Good, the Bad, and the Gross Goes Zoo-y
The Good the Bad and the Gross is designed for kids in grades 4-6. This is HANDS on learning at its best. This month discover what goes on behind the scenes at the Denver public Zoo. Each meeting we challenge you to come ready for the good, the bad and yes the really gross! Pop quiz: what eats LOTS of frozen mice? Program is on November 5th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Parachute Branch Library.

Deadline for Submissions: Big Read Contest for High School Students
Garfield County Libraries is hosting the Big Read featuring John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath” in February 2013. The Big Read, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, is designed to promote reading and discussion of great books. Garfield County Libraries’ Big Read title coincides with the release of Ken Burn’s new documentary entitled, “The Dust Bowl,” set to air on PBS in November. Felt Creatures
Teens are invited to join us at the New Castle Branch Library on Saturday, October 6th at 3:00 p.m. to create their very own felt creature. Creatures can be cute and cuddly to gruesome monsters, you decide!
This craft program is limited to 15 teens. grades 7-12. Call Lee at 984-2346 to register or sign-up at the library.
Duct Tape Creations
Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to join us at the New Castle Library on Saturday, September, 15th at 3:00 p.m. to create your very own Duct (or Duck) Tape Wallet! Program is limited to 15 participants, please contact the library to reserve your spot.
