Work it Wednesday

Calling all quilters, stampers, needle crafters and scrap bookers! Want to have a day of fun and accomplishment? We’ll have tables, irons, ironing boards, and cutting mats all set up for your convenience. Drop in and bring your project for a day of crafting, food and friends. Bring your own lunch; refreshments will be provided.

Work It Wednesday takes place at the Parachute Branch Library on the second Wednesday of the month from 10:00 amto 6:00 pm.

The program was formerly called Tackle it Tuesday.

The Creative Element

 Teens! Feeling creative? Please join us for the Creative Element at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library. We will make hardware jewelry and duct tape crafts!

The Creative Element takes place on Wednesday, June 12 at 4:00 pm. Registration required, please call (970) 963-2889.

 

Bilingual Storytime/Hora de Cuentos Bilingües

Stories, songs, and fingerplays for children. For children ages 1-5. Led by Alejandra Rico, Assistant Youth Services Librarian.

Cuentos, canciones y juegos con los dedos. Para niños de uno a cinco años. Alejandra Rico contará los cuentos y guiará las actividades manuales.

Bilingual Storytime/Hora de Cuentos Bilingües takes place at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on Wednesdays at 10:30 am.

There will be no Bilingual Storytime/Hora de Cuentos Bilingües on June 26.

Story Art with the Aspen Art Museum

 Led by an instructor from the Aspen Art Museum, Story Art combines learning to read with art-making and activities that build visual literacy. This popular program introduces children to the basic foundations of art through engaging storybooks, looking activities, and hands-on art projects. Story Art programs are held at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:45 pm and are for children in grades K-5.

Dig into Reading at Appletree

Join your friends at the Appletree Community Park every Thursday at 10:30 am this June and July for the New Castle Branch Library Outreach Summer Reading Program, Dig Into Reading. This program begins June 13 and ends August 1. Bring your friends for stories, songs, fun crafts, reading, prizes and more! Everyone is welcome!

A Rockin' Good Time

 We are kicking off the Teen Summer Reading Program with a rock party. The theme this year is Beneath the Surface and what do we frequently find there? Rocks! We will be painting rocks, playing Rock Party/Guitar Hero on the Wii, and eating pop rocks. Come and start your summer off like a "rock" star.

Learn How to Plant a Terrarium

Have you ever wanted to grow a terrarium? Join us at the New Castle Branch Library on Saturday, June 29 at 1:00 pm where you can learn to put together a beautiful container full of plants. Bring your own container and we will provide plants and soil.

Nuts and Bolts Jewelry Making

Got junk? Make jewelry!  Together we will learn how to make designer jewelry from nuts, bolts, and other found objects. Bring your own or we will provide supplies. All you really need to bring is your creativity and unique sense of style.

Nuts and Bolts Jewelry Making takes place at the Silt Branch Library on Thursday, June 13 at 4:00 pm.

Tuesdays @ the Library: Music and Game Day

 Want to write a song? Play a Game? Jam and Dance? Our resident musician/songwriter/Youth Services Librarian will lead songwriting activities and then hand out rhythm instruments so you can jam and dance along. We've also got card games, dominoes, checkers, chess, Uno, and more. Twister anyone?

Music and Game day is the third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library.


For kids in grades K-5.

I Did (It) Day

 It's an IDD (Instructional Development Day) for teachers so we are having an IDD at the library, too. We are calling it "I Did (It) Day!" We will have stations set up throughout the library with fun activities for children (and parents) of all ages. Students can earn an "IDD Certificate" which they can show their teacher! There will be a scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, puzzles, and games. Play "Stump the Librarian" and take part in the Shelving Contest. Stop by the Gordon Cooper Branch Library between 10:00 am and 5:30 pm on Monday, May 13 to play.
