Create or Update Your Resume

Your future job may depend on your ability to communicate your skills in just one or two pages! On Tuesday, October 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Silt Branch Library, Dan Mickelson will present a program on ways you can create or update your resume. He will show a variety of tools and library resources that can help you with your resume and will discuss topics such as cover letters, applications, and tailoring resumes for specific jobs. If you already have a resume, feel free to bring it with you if you want it to be privately reviewed for suggestions.

New Silt Library Info Meeting

On Wednesday, July 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the Silt Branch Library will host an informational meeting on the new library facility. Come hear about plans for the building and let library officials know what amenities, services, and spaces you would like to see in the new library. The meeting will be held at the Silt Branch Library, located at 600 Home Avenue. For more information call 876-5500.

Global Tea Time

In celebration of this year's adult Summer Reading Program theme, Novel Destinations, the Silt Branch Library invites you to sample teas from around the world. Join us to taste new flavors and discuss novel destinations from your reading. Tea time is from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. on June 23 at the Silt Branch Library.

Extending Your Garden Season

Join CSU Extension Master Gardener Pat McCarty as he discusses tips and tricks to extend your garden season and get the most out of your harvest this fall. The program is Thursday, August 25, at 6 pm at the Silt Branch Library. After the program, Pat will answer your questions. Refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.

Make Sushi with Candy!

Learn how sushi is made using a variety of candies! Come to the Silt Community Center on Monday, July 25th at 3pm, and create edible works of art. If raw fish is your thing, you can go home and show your friends and family how to make real sushi! 

Bowling for Books Challenge

The New Castle Branch Library and the Silt Branch LIbrary are heading to the lanes for a bowling for books challenge. Head to the New Castle Bowling Alley on Monday, July 11th at 3pm for some fun competition!

The Amazing Race

Come to the Silt Branch Library on Monday, June 27th at 3pm to compete in The Amazing Race! You compete in teams on challenges from around the world in a race to the finish! The object of this game is to use your library skills to find the materials you need to collect to survive. You will be rewarded with fish for your accomplishments. Fish earned throughout the game may be used to buy prizes at the fish auction at the end of the game.

Bug, Bon Appetit!

Challenge your taste buds to an afternoon of bug sampling! Grasshopper? Cockroach? Yummmmm! This is for real! Come to the Silt Community Center on Monday, June 20th at 3pm to take advantage of this fun opportunity to sample bugs. Bring your friends: there is plenty to go around.

Folklorico Dancers

Summer is here, and the Library District's Summer Reading Program is in full gear with lots of fun programs! Come see the Vallet Folklorico de Santa Maria dancers perform at the Silt Park on Saturday, July 9th at 1pm.

Baile folklórico, literally "folkloric dance" in Spanish, is a collective term for traditional Latin American dances that emphasize local folk culture with ballet characteristics - pointed toes, exaggerated movements, highly choreographed. Don't miss this exciting performance!

Ice Cream Social

Summer is here, and the Library District's Summer Reading Program is in full gear! Come to the Silt Park on Wednesday, July 20th at 1pm for an ice cream social! You scream, I scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!!! There will be games and lots of fun activities to do.
