Rifle Branch

Children in 3rd and 4th grades are invited to the Rifle Branch Library on Friday, January 11 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to study the basic elements of art with Ms. Ashley Atwater. Students will explore lines, textures, shapes, and primary and secondary colors. We will examine how these elements appear in famous works of art, and then we will create our own pieces of art through drawing, painting, and collage. We will create a class art gallery where students can enjoy everyone’s artwork! Supplies and snacks will be provided.

Gain a better understanding of fractions by using fractions in art, music, and preparing food (yes, we get to eat the food!). Students will work with fractions appropriate for their own grade level. Children in 3rd and 4th grades are invited to the Rifle Branch Library on Friday, December 7 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to learn about place value with money and games with Ms. Cathy Carlson. Place value can get pretty confusing with bigger numbers, but can be fun and easy to understand the thousands up to a million using money and other objects that come in large numbers. We will use games to practice this concept. Snacks and supplies will be provided. This class is limited to 25 children, and preregistration is required to attend this event.
