5th Element 3-4 Class @ Rifle

Children in 3rd and 4th grades are invited to the Rifle Branch Library on Friday, February 22 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to learn about segregation and how it affected all citizens and sparked the civil rights movement with Ms. Melissa Matis. Students will be introduced to the key events and figures of the Civil Rights Movement. Supplies and snacks will be provided. This class is limited to 25 children, and preregistration is required to attend this event. Please call 625-3471 or go to www.gcpld.org to preregister.

5th Element K-2 Class @ Rifle

Children in 3rd and 4th grades are invited to the Rifle Branch Library on Friday, February 8 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to travel back in time to Ancient Egypt with Ms. Ashley Atwater. Together we will learn about how one of the first organized civilizations. We will get a chance to build a great pyramid together and create life size mummies. Students will also have the opportunity to create scrolls with their own hieroglyphic message inside.  Come join us on this exciting journey through Ancient Egypt! Supplies and snacks will be provided.

Students will learn about the Underground Railroad and the Civil War. Supplies and snacks will be provided. Students will explore and discuss the significance of tradition in Native American Culture. We will also create our own talking stick, buffalo hide painting, and pottery inspired by Native American Traditions! Supplies and snacks will be provided.
