Jerry Cunningham, Rifle Chess Club Coordinator, has been playing chess for most of his life. Lot of folks know how to move chess pieces, but Jerry will teach Chess Tactics for Beginners. This program will be held on Wednesday, November 6 at 6:30 pm. Class is limited to 12 participants, ages 18 and up.
Residents and students of Garfield County explored their communities and took photos related to healthy eating and active living over the summer as a part of LiveWell Colorado's Image to Action program. Photos can be found here. The Rifle Branch Library will be displaying these photographs between October 1 and November 30. An Art in the Stacks Reception will be held on Friday, November 1 at 6:00 pm as part of the City of Rifle's First Friday celebration.

"Catching Fire" is set to be released in theaters on November 22, and the Rifle Branch Library will be hosting a party for teens to celebrate the premiere! Join us on Wednesday, November 20 starting at 5:00 pm as we watch "Hunger Games", enjoy some pizza, play a few movie related games, and have a chance to win tickets to the movie premiere!
We're having a tea party on Saturday, November 16 at 1:00 pm to celebrate National Picture Book Month! Come dressed as your favorite picture book character, enjoy fun games, have some yummy snacks and create amazing art projects. George Cutting III started creating photographic art in 1974 and is still at it today. An Artist Reception will be held to display his work on Friday, September 6 at the Rifle Branch Library at 6:00 pm as part of the First Fridays festivities. This show will contain work that he created this summer after a trip to Homer, Alaska. He currently resides in Silt with his wife Debbie. On the property of "the Rusty Roof Ranch" is the homesteaders 80 year old "Hunting Cabin" which is now "The Crack In The Wall Gallery".
The Rifle Branch Library is open until 7:00 pm to be a part of the City of Rifle First Fridays celebrations.
The Rifle Friends of the Library Bookclub is now meeting the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 pm in the Storytime Room at the Rifle Branch Library. The book for September will be Ahab's Wife: or the Stargazer by Sena Jeter Naslund. Upcoming titles will be loaded on the Kindles for checkout, and also the Lucky Day shelf. Bring your lunch and enjoy lively discussion.
