The Rifle Branch Library is celebrating Poetry Month by hosting a poetry slam on April 13 at 6:00pm. A poetry slam is a competition at which poets read or recite original work. This program is for middle schoolers and up. Refreshments will be served.
Children 10 and under are invited to plant flowers to take home after we read the book together.
Join us at the Rifle Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, for two environmental presentations we're calling "Lorax Lessons for Adults." Steve Anthony, Vegetation Manager for Garfield County, will present a program called "Invasive Species: Not Just Weeds" and Patrick McCarty, Extension Agent with Colorado State University Extension, will present "Human Populations, Natural Resource Supplies: Have We Scared Our Children Yet?" The presentations will take place in the Community Room upstairs.
Kids age 12 and up are invited to join us at the Rifle Branch Library from 2-3 p.m. on Monday, February 20. The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, was published in 1971 and a new film version of the book will be released on March 2, 2012, which would have been Dr. Seuss' 108th birthday! We'll celebrate the book and the upcoming movie with special recycled materials crafts in the spirit of The Lorax's environmental themes. Space is limited, so sign up at the Rifle Branch Library's front desk in advance.
