Rifle Branch

The Museum of Western Colorado will lead a talk about what fossils are, how they are formed, what they can teach us, how they are found, their preparation and dating, why they are found in Colorado, and the work of a paleontologist. They will also provide a collection of fossils including dinosaur, plant, mammal, and sea creature remains. They will also talk briefly about the time line of our planet, the changing environment of Colorado, how dinosaurs behaved, and why they disappeared.

Colorado Fossils will be at the Rifle Branch Library on Thursday, July 25, at 10:30 am.

  A dirt bike, a bulldozer, a monster truck and a kid with a shovel- what do they all have in common? They are all noisy and like to play in the mud!

Charlie Williams is an underground comic and a vocal sound impressionist, better known as “The Noise Guy.” He is a mud-slingin,’ noise-makin’ kids comedian! He’ll take you on an audio off-road adventure to get down to the nitty gritty. You won’t believe your ears!

  Ann Lincoln will perform as a Kooky Cave Woman with help from a dinosaur and her specially trained dog! Come and see some crazy comedy, awesome juggling, mysterious magic, and more.

Ann Lincoln's Dino Girl Show will be at the Rilfe Branch Library on July 11 at 10:30 am.

Crazy, mad scientist Paul Stanley will present an interactive, entertaining, and educational science program. His fascinating demonstrations will spark children's natural curiosity and imagination.

Paul Stanley: Mad Scientist will be at the Rifle Branch Library on Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 am.

  Honey Don't is the musical union of Bill Powers and Shelley Gray, a duo also well known as one-half of Paonia, Colorado's old-time bluegrass band, Sweet Sunny South. Their music is acoustic and based in the folk tradition yet crosses over into the Americana realm. The songs are catchy and engaging, funny, sad, lonesome, and uplifting. Most of the songs are original, but select covers and traditional tunes are part of their repertoire as well.

Honey Don't will play at the Rifle Branch Library on Tuesday, June 18, at 6:00 pm.

Children in grades 3 and 4 are invited to the Rifle Branch Library on Friday, May 17, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. Colors, Colors, Colors!!  Come and explore colors with Ms. Lauren Zabawa.  Students will create symmetrical drawings and paintings using secondary colors. Supplies and snacks will be provided. Children in kindergarten through second grade are invited to the Rifle Branch Library on Friday, May 17, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Colors, Colors, Colors!! Come and explore colors with Ms. Lauren Zabawa using hands on activities that will teach you primary and secondary colors. Ms. Zabawa can even make milk change colors!
