PAWS to Read
Practice reading to a friendly dog! This pressure-free audience gives children the opportunity to practice their reading-aloud skills. Children are invited to sign up for 15 minutes of one-on-one time with a dog who loves to listen to stories. Advance registration and parental permission are required. Paws to Read is held at the Parachute Branch Library every Friday at 11 a.m. To register or get more information, please visit the library or call 285-9870.
The Good, the Bad, and the Gross Goes Shockingly Electric!
The Good, the Bad, and the Gross will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at 3 p.m. Participants will learn about electricity! GBG is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Space is limited so reservations are suggested -- just call 285-9870 or stop by the Parachute Branch Library!

The Power to Click
Do you find yourself reluctant to click on internet buttons and links because you don't know where it will take you? Take the fear out of clicking! Library staff will take you on a guided tour of websites and databases and help you break through any barriers holding you back! This workshop will be held from 9-10am on Tuesday, May 1, Tuesday, May 8, and Tuesday May 15. Basic internet skills are required. Reservations are required -- call 285-9870 to sign up today!
World Book Night
World Book Night is an annual celebration designed to spread a love of reading and books. World Book Night is held in the U.S., the U.K., and Ireland on April 23, 2012. Tens of thousands of people will go out into their communities to spread the joy and love of reading by giving out free World Book Night paperbacks.
Raising a Reader Blue Bag Ceremony
The Raising a Reader program provides bookbags filled with books for preschool and daycare children to take home, read with their families, and return for new ones. Children who have participated in this program during the last year are invited to the Parachute Branch Library on April 17, 18, 19, 24, and 25 at 9:45am and 1:45pm to sign up for a library card, explore the library facility and the wealth of materials available to them, and receive their special blue "graduation" bag in which they can carry their treasures to and from the libr

Reel Readers: Movie & Discussion Book Club
Read Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay, then come to the Parachute Branch Library on Friday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. for a screening of the movie and a discussion to follow. Come in and check out Parachute's giant screen and movie theater sound! Popcorn will be provided; participants are invited to bring in finger foods as well. This program is in cooperation with The Friends of the Parachute Library.
