Computers for Beginners, Level 2
Go2Workshops@YourLibrary is offering a Computers for Beginners, Level 2 workshop! This class will review the basic computer tasks in a Windows environment and will review the differences between a document and a program. Learn to create documents, save them in the right place (hard drive or USB), and perform proper shutdown procedures. Completion of “Computers for Beginners Level 1” or basic computer, mouse, and keyboard skills are required to attend this workshop.
1-Stop Get a Job Workshop
Go2Workshops@YourLibrary features an all-in job-seeking workshop at the New Castle Branch Library on Saturday, June 23 from 1-4pm. This workshop will provide job seekers the essential tools to propel them toward landing a job. The first hour of this workshop will review how to conduct a job search and write a winning resume and cover letter. The second portion will be split into 15-minute appointments for job-seekers to meet one-on-one with an instructor and receive individualized help with their job-seeking needs. This is a free workshop open to anyone who is unemployed.
Successful Transitions Workshop for High School Students
Go2Workshops@YourLibrary features a Successful Transitions Workshop for high school juniors and seniors! This 2-hour workshop is designed to help students prepare for a successful transition to post-secondary education or employment by helping students prepare winning resumes and cover letters. This workshop is divided into two parts: the first hour will feature an interactive lecture, and the second hour will give students the opprotunity for individualized assistance. Bring your laptop and current resume or cover letter if you'd like, or just bring yourself and willingness to learn!
Wii Gaming for Father's Day
Wii for Father's Day! Bring your Dad, Grandpa, or Uncle to the New Castle Branch Library for an evening challenge with Wii! Challenge him in bowling or baseball or another game. We will provide the treats. Please register in advance by stopping by the library or by calling 984-2346.
Celtic Guitar Concert with Jerry Barlow
Jerry Barlow will be performing at the New Castle Branch Library on Wednesday, May 16 at 7pm. His music is said to have the power to transport listeners across time and space on an imaginary jouney to a rustic Irish fishing village, the misty Scottish Highlands, or an anceint English forest. His Celtic melodies are characterized by wonderfully warm and expressive guitar stylings. Call 984-2346 for more information!
Bring Your Mother to Library Tea
For Mother's Day, take your mother to a tea at the New Castle Branch Library! The tea will begin at 6:00pm in our new community room on Thursday, May 10. Advanced registration is required: please call 984-2346. Join us, and show Mom how much you care.
Middle School Art Show
The New Castle Branch Library is hosting an art show and exhibit for middle school students from Riverside and Rifle Middle Schools from Thursday, May 3 to May 10.
Teen TAG Tour & Treats
Teens currently part of New Castle's Branch LIbrary Teen Advisory Group, or any teens in grades 7-12 who are interested in joining the group, are invited to join us at the new library facility on Wednesday, April 18 for a tour, pizza, and a chance to plan fun prgorams for teens by teens. If you can't make it by 4:30pm, just come anytime before 6:00pm, and we'll save you some pizza!
Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting
The New Castle Branch Library wants your ideas and is seeking students to join the Teen Advisory Group (TAG).
TAG is run by teens for teens!
- Plan and attend programs
- Help select materials for the teen collection
- Promote teen activities to peers and schools
- Provide ideas to help create an inviting teen area
- Discuss new books, movies, and music
- Volunteer for library programs
