Wassail at the Library

Come enjoy hot mulled cider at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library as we celebrate the holiday season. We'll serve the wassail in the library lobby from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, December 15.

Literacy Outreach Celebrates 25 Years

Public Meeting: New Glenwood Springs Branch Design

You dreamed…we listened and were inspired! Come learn more about the design of your new library. On Monday, November 7, at 5:00 p.m. the Garfield County Libraries will unveil the Schematic Design for the new Glenwood Springs Branch Library. Project architects Dennis Humphries and Willis Pember will join the Library’s Executive Director Amelia Shelley, Glenwood Springs Branch Manager Pat Conway, and Library District Board Members to review the findings from the Mindbreaking session and go through the entire design process to date.

Mammoths and Mastodons and Sloths, Oh My!

Jim Campbell, PhD, and Sandy Jackson, MA, both adjunct professors at Colorado Mountain College, will talk about their experiences at the Snowmass dig site during the summer of 2011. Join us at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library on November 17 at 7 p.m. to learn about the excavation process and what was discovered. The presentation will be geared toward adults but children and teens are welcome. For more information, call the library at 945-5958.

Poetry Reading and Book Signing: Colorado's Poet Laureate

Colorado Poet Laureate David Mason, author of the bestselling verse novel Ludlow and many others, will perform poems by himself and others; his books will be available for purchase. Writer B.H. Fairchild called him "one of America's finest poets and a master of narrative." Join us at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library on Saturday, October 29, at 7 p.m.

Study Space

Hey, teens, do you find it difficult to study at home? Maybe you need a bigger space to work on a project or you just need to get away from your noisy little sister. All teens are invited to the Glenwood Springs Branch Library from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. on alternating Tuesdays (see specific dates below) to take advantage of our giant, quiet basement. During Study Space hours, you will find room to spread out in a quiet environment. You can work alone or in small study groups to read, write, or plan school projects.

Stories & Songs on the Bus!

Join us at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library for a special storytime: stories and songs on a real bus! Parents and caregivers, come read stories and sing "Wheels on the Bus" on a bus parked outside the library. We'll be on a school bus on September 28 (from 10:30-11:15 a.m.) and on a public RFTA bus on October 5 (from 10:30-11:15 a.m.) while our regular storytime space holds the annual fall used book sale.

Friends of the GS Library Fall Used Book Sale: Friends Preview!

Friends members are invited to the book sale preview on Friday, September 30, from 5-7 p.m. Friends memberships will be available at the door for $10/person.

The Fall Used Book Sale at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library is open to the public from Saturday, October 1, through Saturday, October 8. The book sale will be open from 10 a.m. (1 p.m. on Sunday, October 2) to a half-hour before regular closing hours.

Halloween storytime & trick-or-treating

Toddlers and preschoolers (and their accompanying adults!) are welcome to attend the combined storytime at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. We'll be trick-or-treating around the block to local merchants during our October 26 storytime, so wear your Halloween costume!
