Celebrate National Library Week at your library: April 8-14, 2012!
Your Garfield County Libraries are where stories are read, retold, written, and created every day. Visit your local branch library to celebrate libraries this week and all year.
March 6-12, 2011, is Teen Tech Week @ your library!
Teens, did you realize that your library goes beyond books? Visit your local branch library (or click around our site and our online catalog) to learn about our wide array of technology resources, including DVDs, databases, audiobooks, and videogames.
The Board of Trustees will hold a special board meeting on Tuesday, November 26. The board will meet via conference phone call at 9 a.m.; members of the public who are interested in attending may do so at the Administrative Office of the library district, located in Rifle. Call 625-4270 for more information.
Celebrate the Friends of the Libraries! Friends support their local branches through volunteering, outreach, and fundraisers. Learn more on our Friends page.
Teen Read Week, an initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), is an annual celebration to encourage teens to "Read for the Fun of It!"
Teens, do you need reading ideas? Check out YALSA's Teens' Top Ten, a "teen choice" list where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! The 2010 list will be revealed during Teen Read Week in October but you can peruse last year's winners on the 2009 Teens' Top Ten list:
During Banned Books Week and all year 'round, the Garfield County Libraries defend your freedom to read!
Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. BBW highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States.
