Writing and Drawing for FUN!

 Join other aspiring young writers and illustrators at the New Castle Branch Library at 4:30 on Thursday, October 4th as we explore the secrets of writing and illustrating. Eventually, we hope to create an anthology of short stories by our local your elementary school age writers and artists.  Participants must be able to write.

Preschool Storytime

Deadline for Submissions: Big Read Contest for High School Students

 Garfield County Libraries is hosting the Big Read featuring John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath” in February 2013. The Big Read, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, is designed to promote reading and discussion of great books. Garfield County Libraries’ Big Read title coincides with the release of Ken Burn’s new documentary entitled, “The Dust Bowl,” set to air on PBS in November. Storytime with Sue

Come to the Gordon Cooper Branch Library at 6:00 p.m. on September 24th for Storytime with Sue!  Great for dads, moms and children through age 6. Bedtime songs and stories. Pajamas optional!

Teen Reads Book Club

Bedtime Storytime

 Come and enjoy stories, songs, crafts and a bedtime snack on the second Monday of each month at 6:30pm! Bedtime storytime has changed days starting in September due to our new hours of operation!

Teen Zone takes place in the Gordon Cooper Library Community Room at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.  Study, surf the net, read, write, draw, hang out. Bring a laptop or borrow one of ours.

Manga & Anime Club

 Do you love Manga and Anime? So do we! Join us at the New Castle Branch Library on Thursday evenings at 5:00 p.m. to talk about your favorites, get recommendations and practice your drawing skills.

Holiday Ornament Workshop & Santa Visit

Create your own special holiday ornaments and then visit with Santa at the New Castle Branch Library on Wednesday, Dec 19th. The craft workshop will begin at 5:30 pm. and Santa will arrive at 6:30. Join us for this special holiday event! This event is being co-sponsored by the New Castle Friends of the Library.
