Tech Tuesdays

 Did you get a new e-reader for Christmas? Are you wondering how to download library books onto the reader? The Glenwood Springs Library staff will provide two Tech Tuesday programs where you may schedule a half hour with a librarian to learn how to download library books to your e-reader. On Tuesday January 22nd we will focus on Kindles and devices with a Kindle app. OnTuesday January 29th, we will focus on the Barnes and Noble Nook. You can also arrange to book an appointment with a librarian at a later date.

Teen Advisory Group

 Teens currently part of TAG, as well as anyone in grades 7-12, are invited to join us for the chance to help plan programs, purchase books, movies, and music for teens.  TAG meets at the New Castle Branch Library on the third Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m.

Memories of the Future

 Help us decorate and fill a time capsule! Teens are invited to fill out a “me” questionnaire, create an original piece, or bring in something (that you will not have need for in the next year) to put in a time capsule. We will decorate and hide the Time Capsule in the basement to be opened January 2014. Be sure to bring something with your name and good phone number or email so we can invite you to the opening next January!

Winter Lecture Series: Mines of Coal Basin

 “Mines of Coal Basin” is a book which recounts tales of adventure, courage, determination and innovation in Redstone Colorado. The author, John A. Reeves resides in Glenwood Springs and is the featured speaker in the first installment of the Winter Lecture Series, co-sponsored by the Frontier Historical Society and the Friends of the Glenwood Springs Library.

Tween Book Club

Tweens (ages 9 to 12) are invited to read and talk about good books at the library.  Each member selects their own book to discuss. Tweens will be writing anonymous reviews for a library "magazine" and blog, as well as creating bookmarks about their books (to be displayed in the library). The Tween Book Club meets after school on the second Thursday of each month from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Light snacks are served.

Yoga for Teens

Felicia Trevor will be teaching her five week series ” Introduction to Yoga” to teens beginning Wednesday, January 9th from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. The class will include postures for toning and energizing, use and benefits of aromatherapy, breathing exercises for relaxing, meditation for well being, and color theory for increased awareness. Come join us, bring a friend, and wear comfortable clothes. The class will be held on the lower level of the library. It is free of charge and open to teens.

Digital Camera Club

 This is an informal gathering of people interested in all aspects of digital photography, from beginners to seasoned professionals. Bring your cameras, questions, and photos in any form. If they are on a disc or memory stick we can project them onto a large screen for all to see.  Club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the New Castle Branch Library.
