Youth Volunteer Orientation

Anyone aged 12-18 who is interested in volunteering for the New Castle Library this summer is invited to a Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, June 6 at 1:00 pm. This is your opportunity to earn volunteer hours for college or just to become more involved in your community. The orientation will prepare you to be an active volunteer for summer programs and other regular duties in the library. Come, have fun and volunteer!

Volunteers are asked to sign-up prior to the orientation and have a permission slip signed by a parent.

New Castle Classic Film Club

Come to the New Castle Branch Library on Thursday, May 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for the New Castle Classic Film Club.  We will show classic films from around the world followed by lively discussion. Popcorn still hot from the popper will be served along with punch. Participants will decide on the next month's film.

Friends of the New Castle Branch Library Monthly Meeting

The Friends of the New Castle Branch Library meet on the second Monday of every month at 6:00 pm in the library.

Nuts and Bolts Jewelry Making

Got junk? Make jewelry!  Together we will learn how to make designer jewelry from nuts, bolts, and other found objects. Bring your own or we will provide supplies. All you really need to bring is your creativity and unique sense of style.

Nuts and Bolts Jewelry Making takes place at the Silt Branch Library on Thursday, June 13 at 4:00 pm.

Whatever' Book Club

 For those that want to be part of a book club but don't want to be told what to read, this is the book club for you. Bring WHATEVER book/manga/graphic novel/etc. you are currently reading and share your thoughts, opinions, revelations... anything you want to share! Snacks and refreshments provided with various book club activities each month.

Whatever' Book Club takes place at the Rifle Branch Library on Tuesday, May 14 at 4:30 pm.

I Did (It) Day

 It's an IDD (Instructional Development Day) for teachers so we are having an IDD at the library, too. We are calling it "I Did (It) Day!" We will have stations set up throughout the library with fun activities for children (and parents) of all ages. Students can earn an "IDD Certificate" which they can show their teacher! There will be a scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, puzzles, and games. Play "Stump the Librarian" and take part in the Shelving Contest. Stop by the Gordon Cooper Branch Library between 10:00 am and 5:30 pm on Monday, May 13 to play.

Anime Club

Do you love to read backwards?  Do manga and graphic novels appear in your dreams? If so, this club is for you!

Anime Club takes place at the Parachute Branch Library on Monday, May 20 at 3:00 pm.

Teen Advisors Group (TAG)

Teen Advisors Group (TAG) is open to anyone between the ages of 13 and 17 and meets the first Wednesday of each month from 4:30 to 5:30 pm at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. Come and have your say in what books, music, videos, and programs to offer the teens of Glenwood Springs. Following a brief meeting, we will offer a Manga workshop open to all ability levels. We will supply paper, drawing ideas, and something to draw with if you don’t have a drawing pen or brush of your own. Snacks will be provided. No sign-up is necessary.

Unbirthday Party

A happy unbirthday to you!

Teens are invited to the New Castle Library for a special afternoon of party games, presents, cake and even a few surprises. Bring a friend and come celebrate your unbirthday in a big way on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
