In October, the Glenwood Springs Branch Library is proudly hosting One Book One Community: a community-wide read of Doc: A Novel, the story of Dr. John Henry Holliday. What better way to celebrate this notorious figure than to bring in Dr. Mary Doria Russell, author of the national bestselling title. Dr. Mary Doria Russell will be at library events on October 4 and 5.
The Carbondale Library is celebrating Banned Book Week September 22 - 28. Displays and activities will be at the library all week.
On Thursday, September 26 the Carbondale Library will host BLEEP Books, a Banned Book Discussion at 6:00 pm where we will discuss the freedom to read, censorship, and the power of books. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
To celebrate Banned Book Week, we're showing the movie Footloose (2011), about a teenager who fights against the ban on dancing and rock music in his small town. Snacks will be provided. Please note that this movie is rated PG-13 for some teen drug and alcohol use, sexual content, violence, and language. This Banned Book Week movie will be shown on Saturday, September 8 at 2:00 pm at the Carbondale Branch Library.
Come play Wii games with us at the Carbondale Branch Library! We will also do a game swap. Bring your old games from any system and trade them with others. This event is part of the Middle School Madness series, and will take place on Thursday, September 26 at 4:00 pm.

Come strike a pose at our iPad Photobooth as part of Middle School Madness! We'll have the iPads in our TabLab set up with photobooth and photo editing apps, plus props. Send your pictures to yourself, share them on social media, or print them out to give to friends. Bring friends or take a great selfie. iPad Photobooth will be held on Thursday, September 19 at 4:00 pm at the Carbondale Branch Library.
Join us for our brand new book club! At this first meeting, bring the best thing you read this summer, or your favorite book or graphic novel of all time, and talk about it over pizza and soda with fellow book lovers! We'll vote on our book for next month! Pizza and Pages Book Club will take place at the Carbondale Branch Library on Thursday, September 12 at 4:00 pm.
Genealogy Resources is a free introductory program which will be offered at the Silt Branch Library on Saturday, September 21 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. The program will be presented by genealogy consultant Diane Hitchcock-Owens. Join this dynamic researcher to learn about how to start researching your family history. She will even showcase some great tools including free resources available through the library district's webpage.
Tweens and teens-this ones for you. If you are in middle school or older, we will be meeting every Friday for a special event. We will have crafts, Wii, cooking lessons or even special technology days. Invite your friends for a fun time at the library! Friday Fun Club takes place at the New Castle Branch Library on Fridays during the school year at 10:30 am.

Teens! Join us for the book club that combines reading and discussing good books with delicious banana spits. Banana Split Book Club meets on the third Thursday of each month at the New Castle Branch Library. Now that school is back in session, we will meet at 4:30 pm.
