In October, the Glenwood Springs Branch Library is proudly hosting One Book One Community: a community-wide read of Doc: A Novel, the story of Dr. John Henry Holliday. What better way to celebrate this notorious figure than to bring in Dr. Mary Doria Russell, author of the national bestselling title. Dr. Mary Doria Russell will be at library events on October 4 and 5.
The Carbondale Library is celebrating Banned Book Week September 22 - 28. Displays and activities will be at the library all week.
On Thursday, September 26 the Carbondale Library will host BLEEP Books, a Banned Book Discussion at 6:00 pm where we will discuss the freedom to read, censorship, and the power of books. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
Genealogy Resources is a free introductory program which will be offered at the Silt Branch Library on Saturday, September 21 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. The program will be presented by genealogy consultant Diane Hitchcock-Owens. Join this dynamic researcher to learn about how to start researching your family history. She will even showcase some great tools including free resources available through the library district's webpage.
Are you interested in learning more about Tai Chi? Local expert John Norton will be offering a free class at the library geared for seniors (but open to any interested adult) that wants to know more about this ancient exercise that helps improve your balance, strength, endurance, and agility. The program will be held in the Silt Branch Library on Tuesday, September 10 from 6:30-8:00 pm.
Grandparents, join your grandchildren for a special Grandparents Day Storytime and refreshments at the Parachute Branch Library located at 244 Grand Valley Way on Monday, September 9 at 11:00 am.
