Techie Tuesday

Students in grades 5-8 are invited to come play with our tech toys at the Parachute Branch Library on November 22 and December 27 from 2-3:30 p.m. Laptop computers, board games (ok, so maybe that's "low tech"), Wii games and a big screen - a.k.a. the works! - combine to make this a techie's dream. Please sign up in advance by visiting the branch or calling 285-9870.

Halloween Party

Elementary school-aged children are invited to join us at the Silt Community Center on Monday, October 31, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. for a Halloween party. There will be spooky stories, games, prizes, and, of course, candy so put on your costume and join us for a howling good time. For more information please call the Silt Branch Library at 876-5500.

Storytime Halloween Parade

During the week of Halloween, the New Castle Branch Library is putting storytime on parade! Wear your costume and bring a trick-or-treat bag.

Story Art with Aspen Art Museum

The Aspen Art Museum is partnering with the Gordon Cooper Branch Library in Carbondale to offer Story Art, a free program that combines learning to read with visual literacy and art-making. Held once a month, this program introduces children to the basic foundations of art through engaging storybooks, looking activities, and hands-on art projects. Registration is recommended. Story Art is held on the first Thursday of every month from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Stories & Songs on the Bus!

Join us at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library for a special storytime: stories and songs on a real bus! Parents and caregivers, come read stories and sing "Wheels on the Bus" on a bus parked outside the library. We'll be on a school bus on September 28 (from 10:30-11:15 a.m.) and on a public RFTA bus on October 5 (from 10:30-11:15 a.m.) while our regular storytime space holds the annual fall used book sale.

Halloween storytime & trick-or-treating

Toddlers and preschoolers (and their accompanying adults!) are welcome to attend the combined storytime at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. We'll be trick-or-treating around the block to local merchants during our October 26 storytime, so wear your Halloween costume!

Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies is a free program offered by the Rifle Branch Library that pairs teenage volunteers ("Big Buddies") with students in grades K-4 ("Little Buddies") who are learning to read. Pre-registration is required; visit the branch or call 625-3471. Big Buddies and Little Buddies work together one-on-one for an hour every Thursday from 4-5 p.m., reading and participating in reading-related activities.

Tuesdays @ the Library: Games Galore

Children in grades K through 5 are invited to join us for games at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on the fourth (and occasionally fifth) Tuesday of each month from 4-5 p.m. Have fun playing board games and card games with other kids while developing reading and critical thinking skills at the same time.

Tuesdays @ the Library: BookTalk

Readers in grade 3 through 5 are invited to BookTalk at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library every third Tuesday of the month from 4-5 p.m. Share with others the latest good book you've read, talk about its juiciest parts, and hear about other awesome books to read!

Tuesdays @ the Library: Reading Buddies

Readers in grades K through 5 are invited to join in at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library from 4-5 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month. Kids will be partnered with a younger or older reader to practice reading and discover the joys of sharing books with each other.
