Soup Kitchen and Jamboree
Garfield County Libraries invites you to an old-fashioned gathering on Sunday, February 24 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Third Street Center to celebrate the spirit of sharing during the ʺhard timesʺ of the Great Depression, as depicted in the great American classic, “The Grapes of Wrath.” For this Big Read event, we'll have soup and bread for all.

Garfield County Libraries is kicking off The Big Read 2013 with John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" at First Friday in Carbondale at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st.
Valentine's Day Card Making for Kids
Children are invited to come make Valentine’s Day cards for friends and loved ones at the Rifle Branch Library on Saturday February 9th starting at 1:00 p.m.!
All supplies will be provided. Just come and enjoy being creative and having fun!
5th Element 3-4 Class @ New Castle
Children in 3rd and 4th grades are invited to the New Castle Branch Library on Friday, January 25 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to get creative with collages with Ms. Margaret Cooke. Children will create collages using all kinds of materials, such as feathers, buttons, twigs, seeds, beans, newspapers, magazines, foam pieces, all kinds of paper, string, yarn and much, much more! There will be time to design a collage for a special treasure box for you to keep. Supplies and snacks will be provided. This class is limited to 25 children, and preregistration is required to attend this event.
5th Element K-2 Class @ New Castle
Children in kindergarten through 2nd grade are invited to the New Castle Branch Library on Friday, January 25 from 12 to 2 p.m. to get creative with collages with Ms. Margaret Cooke. Children will create collages using all kinds of materials for your special collage. Supplies and snacks will be provided. Children in 3rd and 4th grades are invited to the New Castle Branch Library on Friday, January 18 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to learn about weaving with Ms. Margaret Cooke. Children will use ribbons, paper strips, yarn, pipe cleaners, natural materials, straws, paper plates, and even magazines to do various weaving projects. Come join the fun! Children will be introduced to different types of weaving for their age levels (paper strip weaving, styrofoam loom weaving, and circular weaving using all kinds of paper, yarn, pipe cleaners, and even sticks. 5th Element 3-4 Class @ New Castle
Children in 3rd and 4th grades are invited to the New Castle Branch Library on Friday, January 11 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to learn different ways to print with Ms. Margaret Cooke. Children will learn how to rub a print, monoprint, make stencils to print, and even how to make cards using a variety of fun materials and objects. (Kids are encouraged to wear an old t-shirt for this program.) Supplies and snacks will be provided. This class is limited to 25 children, and preregistration is required to attend this event.
