No School? Watch a Movie!
No school? Grab a friend and come on over to the Gordon Cooper Library to watch a feature length movie. We'll supply the popcorn.
Movie showings are at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, Friday, May 10, and Monday May 13.
Tween Book Club
Tweens (ages 9 to 12) are invited to read and talk about good books at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. Each member selects their own book to discuss. Tweens will be writing anonymous reviews for a library magazine and blog, as well as creating bookmarks about their books for display in the library. The Tween Book Club meets after school from 4 to 5 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. Light snacks are served.
Story Art with the Aspen Art Museum
Led by an instructor from the Aspen Art Museum, Story Art combines learning to read with art-making and activities that build visual literacy. This popular program introduces children to the basic foundations of art through engaging storybooks, looking activities, and hands-on art projects.
Story Art programs are held at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on the first Tuesday of each month and are for children in grades K-5.
Preschool Storytime
Come to the Gordon Cooper Branch Library and enjoy books, songs, and more at this weekly storytime for children age 2-5. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Preschool Storytime takes place on Tuesdays at 10:30 am.
Musical Storytime with Sue
Come to the Gordon Cooper Branch Library for a special weekly musical storytime full of songs, stories, and more! For all ages. Led by our Youth Services Librarian and award winning children's musician, Sue Schnitzer.
Musical Storytime with Sue takes place at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library at 4:00 pm on May 6,13, and 20.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Storytime for Toddlers & Infants
Come to the Gordon Cooper Branch Library and enjoy age appropriate books, songs, and more at weekly storytimes for infants and toddlers. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Storytime for Toddlers & Infants takes place on Thursdays at 10:30 am.
Bilingual Storytime/Hora de Cuentos Bilingües
Bilingual Storytime includes stories, songs and fingerplays for children. For children age 1-5. Led by Alejandra Rico, Assistant Youth Services Librarian.
Cuentos, canciones y juegos con los dedos. Para niños de uno a cinco años. Alejandra Rico contará los cuentos y guiará las actividades manuales.
Bilingual Storytime/Hora de Cuentos Bilingües takes place at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on Wednesdays at 10:30 am.
Reading Buddies
Be a Reading Buddy after school at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. After starting off with a group game and a snack, younger readers are partnered with older reading buddies to practice and develop a love for reading. Before Reading Buddies is over we offer time for homework or independent reading.
Preschool Storytime with First Responders
Children (ages 3-5) and their accompanying adults are invited to attend a special preschool storytime with our community's first responders. On Wednesday, May 1, storytime will be held at the Glenwood Springs Fire Department located at 806 Cooper Ave. On Wednesday May 8, storytime will be held at the Glenwood Springs Police Department located at 101 W 8th Street.
