The Alex Project celebration will be held on Monday, March 5, at the Parachute Branch Library from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. This is where you'll meet your partner, rate your book, share your thoughts with the group, hear about the books that other teams read, and sign up for another round, if you so desire. Contact Karol at the Parachute Branch (or by phone at 285-9870) to sign up for the next round or learn more about this program.
Once upon a time there was an annual event called Spellebration that continues to this day, bringing lovers of literacy and adult education together for an evening of magic and mayhem with an old-fashioned adult spelling bee and silent auction. This year, we will gather at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Enchanted Forest we know as Aspen Glen, where spellers will compete for bragging rights as the best spellers in Garfield County and all attending will be spellbound by the merriment, the festive ambiance, and the enticements of the silent auction.
An open house for interested subcontractors will be held Tuesday, February 21, at 4:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library located at 413 9th Street. The open house is a chance to hear from the architect and the contractor about the project and the upcoming bid process. For more information call Amelia Shelley at 625-4270 or email email@example.com.
Join us at the Rifle Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, for two environmental presentations we're calling "Lorax Lessons for Adults." Steve Anthony, Vegetation Manager for Garfield County, will present a program called "Invasive Species: Not Just Weeds" and Patrick McCarty, Extension Agent with Colorado State University Extension, will present "Human Populations, Natural Resource Supplies: Have We Scared Our Children Yet?" The presentations will take place in the Community Room upstairs.
