The Carbondale community is invited to join with friends and fellow readers at the launch Carbondale Branch Library's First Tuesday Book Club, on Tuesday, October 1 at 6:00 pm.
Please bring a brown bag supper; drinks will be provided.
The October book will be Cubop City Blues by Pablo Medina. Medina's Cubop City Blues fuses raw, passionate language and elegant lyricism to breathe life into a musically disguised New York City shaped by jazz masters, refugees, and storytellers.
If you love words, games, and having fun, this club is for you! Our adult Scrabble Club meets from 5:30-8:00 pm on the first Tuesday of every month in the conference room of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library at 815 Cooper. Beginners and experts alike are encouraged to join our club, which is free and open to the public. Make new friends and learn new Scrabble strategies. Scrabble boards, scoring materials, and dictionaries are provided.
Do you have old Legos and Duplos that no one is using anymore? Donate them to the library! Your donation will help us get started with fun Lego and Duplo library programs for kids! The Carbondale Branch Library will be accepting Lego and Duplo donations throughout the month of October.

The Carbondale Branch Library is pleased to host the renowned pianist, Amanda Gessler, for a special concert. Following the performance, the library will honor all library donors at a small reception with refreshments. Gessler is known for her deeply insightful and emotionally charged performances across the United States and Europe. She currently resides in Virginia where she is an active performer and student of John O’Conor in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at Shenandoah University. Amanda Gessler will perform at the Carbondale Library on Saturday, August 17 at 3:00 pm.
Join us this month as we discuss Half-Broke Horses, by Jeanette Walls. Limited copies will be available at the library. Bring a treat to share and enjoy for the potluck lunch. Ladies Who Do Lunch Bunch will meet on Tuesday, September 17 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the Parachute Branch Library.
For those of you who couldn't join us on Wednesdays in the summer, Tackle it Tuesday is back! Want to have a day of fun and accomplishment? We’ll have tables, irons, ironing boards, and cutting mats all set up for your convenience. Drop in and bring your project for a day of crafting, food, and friends. Tackle it Tuesday will be held on Wednesday, September 10 from 10:00 - 5:00 pm at the Parachute Branch Library.

Carbondale Branch Library is honored to host speaker/author/climber, Isabel Suppe. She survived a 1,100 foot fall in the Andes mountains and continued her solo journey with a broken foot for two days seeking help. Suppe will give a presentation about her book 'Starry Night' which was originally written in Spanish and shortlisted for the Desnivel Award of Literature in Spain. This book, recently released in English, is a book that ponders the questions of life and death, human desire, and the redeeming power of beauty.

A representative from the Federal Denver Regional Veterans Benefits Office will be at the Parachute Branch Library on Friday, August 9 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm to answer your questions. Assistance for Military Veterans with Disability Claims, Wartime Veterans Pension, Survivors Compensation Claims, Educational Benefits, Vocational Rehabilitation Programs and much more.
