Download Free Library eBooks to Your New Devices

Bring your digital devices to the Gordon Cooper Branch Library on Monday and Wednesday evenings, January 7th and 9th, from 6-7:30. The library staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you download free library ebooks, music, and audio books to your devices.

Tech Tuesdays

 Did you get a new e-reader for Christmas? Are you wondering how to download library books onto the reader? The Glenwood Springs Library staff will provide two Tech Tuesday programs where you may schedule a half hour with a librarian to learn how to download library books to your e-reader. On Tuesday January 22nd we will focus on Kindles and devices with a Kindle app. OnTuesday January 29th, we will focus on the Barnes and Noble Nook. You can also arrange to book an appointment with a librarian at a later date.

Reel Readers

Read the book Girl Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen then come watch the movie version on our giant screen with movie theater sound! Those of you who have not read the book are also welcome to enjoy the screening. There will be food, so call ahead and find out what’s cookin and stay after the film to gab.

Film screening will be at the Parachute Branch Library on Friday, January 18th at 6:00 p.m.

Winter Lecture Series: Mines of Coal Basin

 “Mines of Coal Basin” is a book which recounts tales of adventure, courage, determination and innovation in Redstone Colorado. The author, John A. Reeves resides in Glenwood Springs and is the featured speaker in the first installment of the Winter Lecture Series, co-sponsored by the Frontier Historical Society and the Friends of the Glenwood Springs Library.

Friends of the Parachute Branch Library Annual Meeting-Happy Feet

 Join the Friends of the Library and their invited guest Dr. Gerhard Rill. Dr Rill will share his passion...healthy feet. If you have ever had hurting toes you know how important this can be. Gerhard guarantees to entertain and inform!

Gerhard Rill is a graduate of the Munich School of Orthopedics. He completed his residency in the United States then practiced in Germany for several years before relocating to Colorado.

Health and Fitness 101

Want to get off to a great start, make 2013 your best year? Join us for a 3 session Saturday devoted to your health. From 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Parachute Branch Library join Tiffany Chapman as she looks at the best exercises for you. From 10:30-11:30 Dr. Coleman will discusses preventive medicine with a question and answer session. Round out your healthy day with Mickie Hosack as she talks on diet and nutrition. Enjoy a lunch with dishes you may have never tried, guaranteed good and good for you!

Lunch reservations must be made by Friday, January 4th.

Digital Camera Club

 This is an informal gathering of people interested in all aspects of digital photography, from beginners to seasoned professionals. Bring your cameras, questions, and photos in any form. If they are on a disc or memory stick we can project them onto a large screen for all to see.  Club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the New Castle Branch Library.
