The Carbondale Branch Library is thrilled to host Daniel Stashower on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:00 pm as a part of their “One Book, One Town” festivities. Mr. Stashower will be speaking about his newest book, “The Hour of Peril: The Secret Plot to Murder Lincoln Before the Civil War”. Daniel Stashower is an acclaimed biographer and narrative historian, whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Smithsonian Magazine, AARP: The Magazine, and National Geographic Traveler, as well as other publications.
“Genealogy Resources” is a free introductory program which will be offered at the New Castle Branch Library on Saturday, November 9 from 1:00 - 2:30 pm. The program will be presented by genealogy consultant Diane Hitchcock-Owens. Join this dynamic researcher to learn about how to start researching your family history as she will show you some great tools including free resources available through the library district's webpage.
Jerry Cunningham, Rifle Chess Club Coordinator, has been playing chess for most of his life. Lot of folks know how to move chess pieces, but Jerry will teach Chess Tactics for Beginners. This program will be held on Wednesday, November 6 at 6:30 pm. Class is limited to 12 participants, ages 18 and up.
Residents and students of Garfield County explored their communities and took photos related to healthy eating and active living over the summer as a part of LiveWell Colorado's Image to Action program. Photos can be found here. The Rifle Branch Library will be displaying these photographs between October 1 and November 30. An Art in the Stacks Reception will be held on Friday, November 1 at 6:00 pm as part of the City of Rifle's First Friday celebration.

You will be able to identify some uses for the Internet, identify the parts of a URL and learn how to navigate to web pages, examine the elements of a web browser and web page, discuss how to stay safe while on the Internet, and you will be introduced to the library website. You will also have the opportunity to have your computer questions answered by our tech experts.

Learn the secrets to save yourself lots of money by becoming a couponing guru. Lois Gross will show you the tips and tricks to getting the most out of your time and coupons. The class will be held at the Silt Branch Library on Saturday, November 9 starting at 1:00 pm. The class is free and open to all.

This class will be held at the Parachute Library on Wednesday, November 6 at 9:00 am.
Local artist and CMC instructor Bobbie Van Meter will be hosting an informative workshop about the history and used of gourds as well as offering each class member a chance to make their own with the supplies provided by the library at no charge to participants! Plan for about a 3 hour workshop. This class will be held at the Silt Branch Library on Saturday, November 2 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

The Symphony in the Valley is teaming up with the Glenwood Springs Branch Library to celebrate America’s Music!
