Participate in the New Carbondale Branch Library's Art Installation
Local artist, Shannon Muse of Paradise Art Glass, is creating a permanent public art installation, entitled “Pillars of Light/Pilares de Luz,” for the new Carbondale Branch Library.
The multi-part sculptural piece will form the seven entryway columns on the front porch of the new library.

The Silt Branch Library is speeding toward completion and the Grand Opening is scheduled for 10am on October 6, 2012. The new library is located right next door to the existing library. The architect is Oz Architecture and the contractor is FCI, Inc. The building features an expandable meeting room to accommodate larger events (with a huge garage door!), as well as two study rooms, unique children's and teen spaces, and a plaza between the existing Silt Town Hall and the new library.

It's a Go!
It's a Go!
A new library for Carbondale won approval from the Carbondale Town Council in April. Willis Pember Architects is designing the new library and Humphries Polis Architecture is designing the library interiors. The new library at the corner of Sopris Avenue and Third Street and will include a new 13,000 square foot library, a “story quarry” for kids, a sculpture garden, and a 100 person meeting room that will double as a quiet reading area. The project is slated to break ground in July 2012. The library will feature three study rooms, separate teen, children’s and adult areas as well as some innovative features such as a “You-media” type space for producing content for books, magazines, movies, music and more.

With the successful April opening of the New Castle Branch Library, we now have three more branches to go! We're happy to celebrate our halfway point and library administrators and staff continue to work hard for library patrons in Silt, Glenwood Springs, and Carbondale. January 2012: New Libraries Coming in the New Year
Happy New Year! As 2012 dawns, we continue to make progress on our construction projects. Two new libraries are slated to open in 2012 and the remaining two projects will break ground in 2012. Read on to learn about what's in store for our libraries in New Castle, Silt, Glenwood Springs, and Carbondale.
