Adorable illustrations and a silly story make this a fun read for young children who love animals.
Bellwether by Connie Willis is a science fiction book for people who might think they don't like science fiction. While Willis is the winner of many notable science fiction awards including eleven Hugo Awards and seven Nebula Awards, this book reads like a romantic comedy. Connie is a Colorado author, and this endearing, charming novel takes place in Boulder.
The main character, Sandra Foster, is a scientist in Research and Development at HiTek, a fictional research company. Sandra is a...
Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen
By: Christopher mcDougall
Review by: Lee V.
Born to Run is an epic journey for all those involved. Christopher McDougall weaves a story that is part anecdote and part research into something that is both compelling and engaging. The beginning of this adventure starts off with one simple question: Why does my foot hurt? In search for an answer to this question, the reader gets to explore all the wild places and amazing people Christopher McDougall encountered on his journey. The book introduces us to characters from all over...
I snatched this book (well, audiobook to be honest) off the shelf because I love Tina Fey. Everything I had seen her write or star in up to that point was gold. While sometimes I build things up way too much in my mind and there is no possible way they can meet my expectations, fortunately, this book was one of the rare cases which was able to go even above my lofty dreams.
I recommend listening to the audiobook version because it is Tina, herself, who does the narration. She has the...
Rarely do I read a book that excites me so much I want to start it again as soon as I have finished it. Pam Houston's newest novel "Contents May Have Shifted," is that book. Part travelogue and part love story, she takes us on a round-the-world vacation while peeking into her heart. Pam Houston's sense of humor and her refreshing philosophy on life and emotion keep you engaged with all the characters from beginning to end. I highly recommend this to anyone who already loves her prose...
This book has been on the New York Times bestseller list for over a year, and it continues to be one of the most requested books at the library as well. It's the story of the life of a boy and his identical twin who lived in Ethiopia with their adoptive parents. Marion is the narrator of the book, and through his eyes we learn bit by bit about the events of his life. Verghese masterfully spins a tale in which all of the details come together to make this a book to be savored and enjoyed.

Welcome to Dystopia!
The release of the movie version of The Hunger Games has introduced more readers, both adults and younger to this broadening genre of dystopian fiction. It has been around for a while (“1984”), but has really exploded in recent years, especially for the young adult market. The Hunger Games is truly a standout work, but there are others worth reading. One of these is Divergent, by Veronica Roth. ...
When this movie is playing I just want to grab a dodgeball, a wrench, or just something - anything - and start throwing. Not because I'm mad, but because wouldn't it be fun to be part of that rag-tag team? Pain, humiliation, and S&M gear aside, they sure do have fun and make me laugh. This movie is plum full of ridiculous quotes and gut busting jokes. It simply makes me happy.
